antenatal support

Many people get involved with the NCT through the antenatal classes, and we offer regular classes in this area. But do you know about all the other things we offer that can help you get to know other people in the area, or to provide you with support at this important time in your life.

Antenatal Classes

These are friendly, informal classes for you and your partner. The NCT trained teachers** offer support, practical skills, and information to help you make informed choices about your childbirth. Also, there are Breathing and Relaxation classes to help those preparing for an active birth. Many parents form lasting friendships with others on the course. For up-to-date information on classes, including current fees (concessions available), call 0870 421 4492* or email antenatal@farehamnct.ik.com.

Meet Other Parents and Children in the Area

Bumps & Babes allows expectant mums and carers of babies up to 12 months to meet in a friendly and sociable atmosphere. These informal drop-in sessions are held every Friday from 10-12. They are normally held at Blackbrook Maternity Unit, Fareham, but have been temporarily relocated to Titchfield Community Centre (Mill Suite) due to the current closure of Blackbrook. Same day and time. Everybody welcome. For more information, call 0870 421 4490* or just drop in one week.

Nearly New Sales

These popular sales are held twice a year - usually March and September. You can buy good quality toys, clothes (0-12 years, and maternity), and baby equipment, at fabulous prices. We also run occasional Table Top Sales inbetween times. Watch this site for dates and details on all our sales.

Newsletter & Diary

We produce a regular newsletter, FarePlay, for our members, full of informative or amusing stories, and information about local or national resources. Our bi-monthly PlayDates diary contains all the information you need on events, Open Houses and other meetings.

Experience Register

Would you like to talk to someone who has been through an experience similar to yours? The Experience Register enables you to get in touch with someone who has faced a similar issue before, during or after childbirth, including home birth, and who has offered to pass on information and support. The service is free and completely confidential. Call Tracy on 0870 421 4493*.

Branch Library

We have an extensive library of books, videos, CDs etc on topics related to pregnancy, childbirth and parenting. You are welcome to borrow any of these at any time. Contact Louise Pulford for a full list or to arrange to borrow an item.

** our antenatal teachers, breastfeeding counsellors and postnatal leaders undergo a thorough training with the NCT although they are not required to be medically qualified. All teachers, counsellors and leaders are expected to keep up to date with the latest developments in maternity care and must register with us every year. Their rold is to offer support, information, practical skills and resources to help parents make informed choices for themselves and their babies. They do not offer medical advice and parents are asked to take any questions about the medical care of mother and baby to their midwife, health visitor or doctor.
